Tyson breeder flock has avian flu

A flock of 73,500 breeder broiler chickens is being slaughtered because of an outbreak of avian influenza at the Tennessee farm owned by Tyson Foods.

It’s the first time highly-pathogenic avian influenza has broken out in Tennessee and is the first case in the United States this year.

Thirty poultry farms within a 10-kilometre radius are now under quarantine and undergoing testing for avian influenza.
