Drainage Act changing

Ontario Agriculture Minister Lisa Thompson said she Is changing Drainage Act regulations to make it simpler, cheaper and faster to get approvals for small projects.

She said these small projects will not change the province’s commitment to protect the environment.

She said “drainage is essential to our agriculture sector and our economy. That’s why we’re reducing the time it takes to make minor improvements to drainage systems that can provide positive environmental and economic benefits to farmers and municipalities.”

The changes will not only save time and money for those undertaking projects, she said, but also will encourage the development of more small-scale green infrastructure projects that provide environmental benefits.

So why were all the things now changing in the regulations in the first place. Probably for good reason.
