Nestle closing Trenton plant

Another one bites the dust!

Nestle Professional is closing its food-processing plant in Trenton and shifting production to the United States.

Eighty per cent of the dehydrated dry-blend and frozen products have been exported to the United States recently, mainly to the restaurants.

The plant will be closed in stages starting late this year with complete closure by next summer.

Nestle said the foodservice industry is “highly competitive” and it has enough capacity at its U.S. plants to meet demand.
