He is a member of the Kent County Hall of Fame and hosted the 2018 International Plowing Match.
He pleaded guilty to the charges laid by the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources which said his dike removed about three acres of marsh habitat and created additional partitions within the marsh.
Laprise pleaded guilty and his fine will go to Ducks Unlimited Canada.
