Judge consolidates pork price-fixing lawsuits

A judge in Minnesota has consolidated 27 class-action price-fixing pork industry lawsuits involving 146 parties.

Federal court judge John Tunheim said this is in the best interest of all those involved, noting that the cases are similar.

Pursuing them separately in different places in the United States would be cumbersome and could become confusing.

Tunheim has been receiving cases involving antitrust matters against the leading meat producers since 2018.

The biggest meat packers are Tyson Foods, National Beef Packing Company, Swift Beef, JBS and Cargill, but there are many more.
