Commercial nitrogen-fixing bacteria approved

NexusBioAg will be distributing nitrogen-fixing bacteria in time for next year’s growing season.

The product, called Envita, was developed by Azotic North America and has undergone six years of trials to gain approval from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.

As with soybeans, these nitrogen-fixing bacteria can take nitrogen from the atmosphere and make it available to crops, reducing the amount of commercial nitrogen fertilizers needed for optimum crop development.
