Another price-fixing suit against beef packers

Compass Group, one of the largest catering companies in the United States, has filed a lawsuit against the five largest beef-packing companies in the United States, accusing them of conspiring to control production and prices.

The suit was filed in a North Carolina court charging JBS, Cargill, Tyson, Swift and National Beef.

The lawsuit cited an ongoing investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice into possible price-fixing in the meat industry.

In October a group of food-distribution companies filed a similar lawsuit against the same companies.

And in September a judge in Colorado said major meat-packing companies will have to face charges of conspiring over workers’ wages.
