Seaway unions ratify contract

Members of five striking unions representing workers on the St. Lawrence Seaway have ratified the tentative agreement their negotiators reached.

The strike ended when the tentative agreement was reached. For agriculture, the main relief is that Ontario’s grain crops have resumed moving to export destinations or storages at Montreal or downstream into Atlantic Canada.

Fertilizer can also move into to storages, mainly in Hamilton Harbour.
