Land prices continue to rise

Land prices continued to rise over the first half of this year, but not much in Ontario.

Nationally the increase from January to June was 3.7 per cent, about half as much as the increase from June, 2019, to this year.

In Ontario, the January-to-June increase was only four-tenths of one per cent and the annual increase 3.7 per cent.

“Despite the numerous challenges, the agricultural land market has shown strength as higher crop receipts and record-low borrowing costs supported strong demand for land,” said FCC, listing challenges such as COVID-19 and suipply-chain “disruptions” for meats, grains and oilseeds and dairy.
