Smithfield faces charges related to COVID-19

Federal officials have laid charges against Smithfield Foods, saying it failed to take adequate measures to protect workers at its plant at Greeley, Colorado, from COVID-19.

Four Smithfield employees have died of the virus and 1,294 have tested positive.

Smithfield, which is owned by a Chinese company, is the largest hog producer and pork packer in North America.
