Quebec studying more veterinary training

The Quebec government has given more than $625,000 to examine the feasibility of offering veterinary training in Rimouski.

The University of Montreal, which has about 100 veterinary students at its St.-Hyacinthe campus, is in talks with the University of Quebec at Rimouski.

They are looking into offering five years of training at Rimouski followed by one year at St.-Hyachinthe.

The hope is that veterinarians training and interning in the program would provide services to remote areas of the Lower St-Lawrence, Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, Abitibi-Temiscaming, Gaspe-Magdalen-Islands, Outaouais and North Shore.
