Ingredion Inc. of Weschester, Illinois, is closing its processing plant in Vanscoy, Sask., another fallout from the collapsing consumer interest in plant proteins that mimic meat.
“The decision to cease operations of the Vanscoy manufacturing facility was made after a strategic review of this business,” the company said in a filing with U.S. stock market regulators.
The company said it expects to sell the facility, which employed about 20 workers.
