Temporary worker employer fined

A winery in British Columbia has been fined $118,000 and banned from the temporary foreign workers program.

The federal government said Toor Vineyards in the Okanagan Valley did not provide documents when a federal inspector asked and did not "put in enough effort" to ensure the workplace was free of physical, sexual, psychological or financial abuse.

The government also said the pay or working conditions did not match what was listed on an employment offer or jobs were not the same as what was offered.
