Bird flu toll rises to 1.8 million birds

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency puts the toll from highly-pathogenic avian influenza at 1,822,500.

There have been 76 flocks stricken with the deadly flu, 25 of them in Ontario, 24 in Alberta where the toll is 937,000 birds, far more than the 470,000 in Ontario.

With wildfowl migration nearing an end, there has been a decline in new outbreaks.
