Derek Parks of Sheniah has been appointed to a three-year term on the Committee on the Status of Species at Risk In Ontario.
Parks is the owner of Parks Environmental Inc., and a former senior aquatic specialist for AECOM., a consulting firm in Kitchener.
He has served as a member of the Environment and Ecological Committee for the Region of Waterloo. He was a Progressive Conservative candidate in Thunder Bay.
The Species at Risk Committee’s work can impact farmers if it determines that farmland is habitat for a species at risk of extinction.
