Akua, a company in New York that made hamburger out of kelp, has shut down.
Founder Boyd Meyers said it experienced packaging, manufacturing, warehouse and shipping disasters and the market for plant-based meats is declining.
“What makes my jaw drop is how many amazing plant-based companies AKUA now joins in shutting down operations, so many of them by fellow founder friends.,” she said.
